Centering on Seina Yamada, who idolizes the original Tenchi, and his misadventures in joining the Galaxy Police, this anime aired 26 episodes in 2002. Tenchi Muyo GXP is itself a spin-off of the broader Tenchi Muyo franchise. Kajishima is also credited as the supervising director of the new anime, with writing credited to Hideki Shirane, who had written for the previous Tenchi Muyo GXP series, as well as the Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar OVA series, plus the aforementioned Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki follow-up seasons. This new series has been announced with a teaser trailer and a key visual, drawn by Tenchi Muyo franchise creator Masaki Kajishima. The last Tenchi Muyo anime to release was back in 2021, with the six-episode original-video animation 'fifth season' to the original Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki series, a continuation of the anime series aired in North America under the simplified title of Tenchi Muyo. Titled Tenchi Muyo GXP - Paradise ShidÅ-hen (Paradise Begins Arc), the anime will be tied into the Tenchi Muyo GXP spin-off series. The Tenchi Muyo anime series has announced a new entry in the franchise.
